This sheep applique pattern is simple and very easy to crochet and make. I’ve made a couple of them and a friend asked for the pattern and I thought why not put it in my blog as a free pattern.
Depending on what colour you are going with, you can make this sheep simple by using only white and grey with a little piece of black to crochet the eyes nose.
I use DK yarn “charity or Lollipop” with a 4mm hook. You will also need a sewing needle to put the pieces together.
Ch1 at the beginning of the M/C does not count as a stitch.
If you want to make a big sheep applique for a blanket, replace the SC stitches with HDC stitches.
BUBBLE STITCH: yarn over, pull up a loop, pull the hook through two loops, yarn over, pull up a loop, pull the hook through two loops, yarn over, pull up a loop, pull the hook through two loops, yarn over, pull up a loop, pull through two loops. now you should have 5 loops on your hook, pull through all 5 loops.
to make the bubble pop upwards towards you, lose tension on the loop on the hook, push the bubble out towards you, sc in the next stitch, almost go behind the bubble.
M/C: Magic circle
SC: single crochet
INC: increase (two stitches in the same stitch)
DC: Double crochet
LEGS make 2:
HEAD PUFFS (Make x 3):
make a small v for the nose and then a small v facing down for the mouth and make two black buttons for the eyes.
work the face one with the black or dark grey yarn before sewing the head to the body, the legs come in front of the body but you can also add them behind if you prefer.
